Third Way Cultural Alliance Presents a powerful ecosystem for new music creation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Third Way Cultural Alliance: A New Model for Music
[Philadelphia, October 20] – In a rapidly evolving music industry where digital platforms and commercial pressures continue to sideline world-class musicians, Third Way Cultural Alliance is pioneering a new model for artist sustainability.
Third Way presents a simple and powerful system for the creation of new, culturally important music. Elegant in design, simple in process, and proven to easily connect donors and musicians, the Third Way platform is changing the way artists make music and the way listeners value that music. Third Way is distinctly different from the typical commercial music system.
Third Way offers fractional patronage: a simple method for individuals and organizations to fund the creation of new music. Third Way offers a complete project management system through publicity and marketing, with distribution through our label, ropeadope. Third Way offers unique music presentations in partnership with museums, galleries, and community centers.
While there are many organizations that support music through patronage, a select few are focused primarily on the value of recorded music. There have been platforms for individual artists to crowdfund new music, but those are built for the benefit of the platform, rather than the benefit of access to recorded music by the public.
Since its inception, Third Way has facilitated direct connections between visionary artists and engaged donors, ensuring that culturally significant music continues to thrive. Exemplified by successful recent projects such as TRIAD, Obed Calvaire’s 150 Million Gold Francs, the 101 Audio Odyssey (Marshall Allen), and The Mexico City Experiment, Third Way is demonstrating that artists can retain creative control, produce high-quality albums, and engage in meaningful cultural exchange when supported by a community that values artistic integrity over mass-market appeal.
A Model of Success: TWCA’s Impact
Third Way has proven their model by funding and managing eight albums from creation through to public release. The vision has expanded to bring these projects to museums, schools, and community organizations for premiere to the public, rather than traditional method of diluted music distribution. This process elevates the music to its true position of value.
Expanding the Mission in 2026
The initiative aims to raise $50 million over the next five years, beginning with an $8 million endowment to fund the recording, production, and promotion of full-length, culturally significant albums. This funding will not only sustain artists but also help preserve music that might otherwise go undocumented due to financial pressures.
TWCA invites individual donors, foundations, and music advocates to join in this movement to protect the art of the album, preserve artistic integrity, and ensure that vital music reaches the world in an elegant and powerful way.
